The First Private Pathology Group in Hawaiʻi
When Hawaiʻi Pathologists’ Laboratory was established in 1965 as the first private pathology group in Hawaiʻi, pathology services in the islands looked very different than they do today. HPL was founded to provide expert diagnostic pathology support to Hawaiʻi’s physicians and hospitals while remaining deeply rooted in the local medical community. More than sixty years later, that commitment to serving Hawaiʻi continues to define our organization.
Physician-Owned. Physician-Led. Hawaiʻi-Based.
Today, HPL remains a locally owned, physician-led pathology group composed of board-certified pathologists committed to serving Hawaiʻi’s healthcare community. HPL physicians provide pathology expertise, laboratory medical leadership, and consultation services that support hospitals and healthcare organizations throughout Hawaiʻi and the Pacific region while also contributing to the education and training of future physicians and pathologists through the University of Hawaiʻi John A. Burns School of Medicine.
Looking Toward the Future
As we look toward the future, Hawaiʻi Pathologists’ Laboratory remains committed to serving our community with the same dedication, professionalism, and diagnostic expertise that have defined our organization for more than sixty years.
